Only citizens/permanent residents of Kenya, Somalia (exception Somali Family reunion visa applications - see below), Madagascar, Comoros, Seychelles and Eritrea can apply to our Embassy (via TLS).
If you are just passing through one of these six countries and do not have proof of residence (visa), you must submit your application to the Belgian Embassy in your country of residence.
Kenya and Somalia
Applicants for C and D visas must apply in person at TLS
Exception:
As of 1st January 2019, all Somali visa applicants residing in Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya, wishing to apply for family reunion with a family member (a refugee or a person with subsidiary protection in Belgium) will have to submit their visa applications in Nairobi (Kenya). This is irrespective of your own personal status (refugee, resident, etc) in Uganda or Ethiopia. The procedure is the same as if you live in Kenya or Somalia (see below).
Madagascar
For a visa C - short stay/Schengen, please contact the French Embassy in Tananarive
For a visa D - long stay from 1 June 2023: go personally to TLS in Nairobi, except if you are a student with a scholarship from a Belgian institution or from an international organization of which Belgium is a member. Only scholarship students can send the visa files by a recognized express courrier (e.g. DHL, Fedex) with a pre-paid return envelope to the Embassy of Belgium, att. Visa Section, Limuru Road, Muthaiga, Nairobi.The Embassy may request the applicant to come personally to the Embassy at a later stage for an interview if required. Please note that for a long stay visa two complete application files are needed.
Comoros
For a visa C - short stay/Schengen, please contact the French Embassy in Moroni
For a visa D - long stay: either go personally to TLS in Nairobi or send the files by a recognized express courrier (e.g. DHL, Fedex) with a pre-paid return envelope to the Embassy of Belgium, att. Visa Section, Limuru Road, Muthaiga, Nairobi.The Embassy may request the applicant to come personally to the Embassy at a later stage for an interview if required. Please note that for a long stay visa two complete application files are needed.
Eritrea

Seychelles
For a visa C - short stay/Schengen
National of the Seychelles do not need a short stay visa. All other nationals who do need a visa for Belgium and who live in the Seychelles, are requested to contact the Embassy of France in Port-Louis, Mauritius, which represents Belgium for SHORT stay visas, or can apply through the Belgian Visa Application Center TLS in Nairobi
For a visa D - long stay
Either present yourself at TLS in Nairobi, or send the files by a recognized express courrier (e.g. DHL, Fedex) with a prepaid return enveloppe to the Belgian Embassy, att. Visa Section, Limuru Road, Muthaiga, Nairobi. The Embassy may request the applicant to come personally to the Embassy at a later stage for an interview if required. Please note that for a long stay visa two complete application files are needed.
All Belgian diplomatic and consular posts require fingerprints (10 fingers) as well as a digital photo of all visa applicants from the age of 6, for short stay visa applications.
For long stay visa applications, the fingerprints and a digital photo of applicants living in Kenya or travelling with a Laissez-Passer issued by the Belgian Embassy will be taken at the TLS Visa Application Centre.
The holders of a diplomatic or service passport who are posted to a diplomatic or consular mission in Belgium or at an International organization that has its HQ or a representation in Belgium, are exempted of the biometric information requirements for LONG stay visa; the same applies for their family (spouse and dependent children).
